JSI’s evaluation, assessment, and research work for private, federal, state, and local-level clients result in policy recommendations in a broad range of health service delivery and public health areas. While our methods are theoretically well-grounded in rigorous study designs, JSI goes beyond an academic approach to interpret findings that are based on a real-world understanding of the complexity of public health issues and service delivery. Thus, policy recommendations are made that have applicability to and direct benefit for the overall health care system, provider organizations, and clients accessing services. JSI’s policy work has included working at the U.S. Federal bureau level to produce guidances for state and local programs and also at the state level to develop/improve programs targeting lower income and special populations. Within communities, JSI has helped to develop and improve service coordination and access to care and has assisted in developing and improving service delivery at the organizational level. At the program level, JSI develops and improves programs that reach special populations or address specific public health issues, such as environmental health improvements.
