Since its inception twenty-five years ago, JSI has been training health care providers and managers, as well as community members and peer outreach workers, to achieve performance goals. JSI develops and conducts training in public health, clinical services, cultural competency, and institutional strengthening. Additionally, JSI develops and produces health education and program support tools targeting both service providers and target populations in these areas. Our training programs and materials are public health focused, evidence-based, and culturally targeted. JSI works with its partners to identify what factors contribute to desired performance and what can be done to strengthen them, developing targeted training as appropriate. JSI’s international training programs are competency-based and improve the quality of health care available to clients. They include both pre-service as well as in-service training. JSI also partners with our affiliate, World Education, to provide culturally appropriate training to target populations working with local community leaders and health workers. To measure the effectiveness of our training, JSI builds evaluation into every project. We assess training impact at specific intervals to find out how well participants are applying the skills learned and how on-the-job performance has improved.
