ReadyNH Website Promotes Emergency Preparedness

JSI's NH Community Health Institute (CHI) is pleased to announce the launch of New Hampshire's ReadyNH website. JSI and the NH Department of Health and Human Services and NH Department of Safety co-led the development of the site, which provides information on emergency preparedness for families, individuals with special medical needs, and businesses. During active emergencies ReadyNH will be the state's primary location to post information for the public related to the event. The site is located on the nh.gov website.

ReadyNH is organized around the themes "stay, leave, connect." Depending on the situation, residents may need to stay in their homes for at least 72 hours or evacuate and need to have a plan to communicate with loved ones.

"We hope people in New Hampshire will find this site useful," said Christopher M. Pope, Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. "We want to provide information that people can put to use in their homes and workplaces to improve the level of emergency preparedness in the state."

"In each of the disasters New Hampshire has faced since the flood of October 2005, the state has had to create an ad hoc disaster information website," Pope said. "Now, ReadyNH will assume that role. In the event of a disaster, people should look to ReadyNH for information such as shelter location and road closures."
